RIP my Kindle

It's official, I'm putting down my Kindle for the rest of the year.

Recently I came to realize that I was so deep into the trending books on social media, that my paperbacks were not getting the attention they deserved. Plus, I had either purchased, been gifted or picked up all these paperbacks at some point with the intention of reading them; but with Apps like Goodreads and the easiness of Libby's "read with Kindle" I forgot all about reading paper copies.

I thought I had my technique figured out. A paper book by my bed, my Kindle on my purse and an audiobook on my phone. But I started reading the paper copy by my bed about 4 months ago and I'm not even halfway through. In reality, my technique wasn't working and hurts to admit that. But I also started thinking more about how much stuff I've collected in the past few years (as you can see from my previous post). So, my goal is not only to read the books I've collected, but also re-home them after I am done.

So far, it's been about 3 days since I finish my last Kindle book. The goal is to not go back to Kindle until I read through the dozen (or more) books I lined up on my dresser at the beginning of the year. I know it sounds a bit extreme, but I am willing to give it a try. C'mon brain! I will post updates as I go, but so far, the biggest challenge has been reading in bed without the luxury of turning off the light so my husband can sleep while I'm reading (RIP, Kindle). Small issue, and honestly the man can sleep regardless of light.

I'm working through Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker, PhD; which I've mentioned I started months ago.

Looking through my holds on Libby (for audiobooks) and recent additions to my "to-be-read" list, there are so many "trending" titles and new releases, but what about the other 300 books I've short-listed to read and never did? Maybe this will help me go through my to-be-read list as a whole. We'll see!
